7. “Glory Days” by Bruce Springsteen. If you know my love of Bruce, you might be surprised to find this performance ranked so low. Then again, if you know my love of Bruce, you surely know my hatred of this particular song. Still, when Springsteen made his first appearance on Letterman’s show (ironically the final one he did for NBC), I had to watch it. Given that Letterman was leaving NBC for CBS, “Born to Run” would have been a better choice.
