What Song Would You Walk into the Ring With?
My Ten Song Nominations to Select My Sporting Walk-Out Song
As well as being a huge music and movie fan, I have always loved my sport.
Having watched the boxing over the weekend it sparked an idea I have had in my head for some time.
As we all know boxers walk into the ring with a chosen song. This has expanded somewhat into other sports such as darts and even snooker. It was interesting to hear the different songs chosen by the snooker players at the recent World Championships.
Initially, I thought it would be an easy pick for me especially being a passionate Springsteen fan. However, the more I thought on the matter the harder it became. Many of my favourite Springsteen songs just didn’t fit the bill because great songs that they are, for sport I guess you want something to pump you up. Thus, tracks such as “Backstreets”, “Youngstown” and “Racing in the Street” just don’t seem suitable.
Subsequently, if I was walking into a boxing amphitheatre then another good Springsteen song “I’m Going Down” doesn’t sound very appropriate at all. And on that note, I guess we can rule out “Dancing in the Dark”, “Lost in the Flood”, and “Dead Man Walking”.
