Nevertheless, as I was listening to a couple recently it put me in the mood to list ten songs that were substantially successful for one artist but written by another artist. Most of these are cover songs but a few were never sung by the original writer.

1. Blinded by the Light: Written by Bruce Springsteen Sung by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band

We have to start with the one and only Boss. It would always be rude not to. This song was made more famous by Manfred Mann despite being written by Springsteen and appearing on his debut album Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. The version from Manfred Mann was a top ten hit in the UK and reached number one in the US 1977 Billboard Hot 100.
