I am finishing off my articles on film this month to celebrate Film Day in September and the up coming British Film Institute (BFI) Film Festival with a list of my ten favourite British films.

The UK has made so many excellent films, that it is hard to narrow it down to ten so I have made the criteria of films that I will watch every time they come on television. I had to rule out A Bridge Too Far which is one of my favourite war films and very personal to me because although directed by Richard Attenborough I believe it is a joint UK/US production.
The list below is in no particular order of choices other than the last.
