Rest in Peace, Your Majesty
Tomorrow I had my weekly article ready to go but after the so very sad news of the death of our Queen, I have decided to shelve it for this week. Particularly as it had a small rant about a certain sportsman that has not been knighted. The rant was not at all directed at the Queen, but it is not at all appropriate at this time and will be better published at a later date.
Whether you are a royalist or not, here in the UK the Queen has been our figurehead for so long, it is such a huge loss for our country.
The Queen has remained strong, stable, and impartial all our lives and worked so very hard in her duties gaining so much respect from the nation and the whole world. Over the years she has been a comfort to us in our troubles and darker days and one of the very few people who has brought some sense of unity in recent years. The Queen has reigned for an unprecedented seventy years and overseen fifteen prime ministers.
Even my generation’s parents lived their whole lives under Queen Elizabeth II, and it is a time we think of the family members we have lost over the years at this sad time.
There will be so many great tributes paid to her over the forthcoming weeks from more appropriate people and better writers so there is not much more to say other than our Queen died on the day of my sixtieth birthday which has had an even more profound effect on me.
No more words other than Rest in Peace, Your Majesty.
