A Tribute to a Special Lady who gave us the Boss
Last week we heard the sad news that Adele Springsteen, the mother of Bruce sadly passed away at the age of 98.
Many Springsteen fans will know that Adele had been struggling with Alzheimer’s for over ten years but let us celebrate her great innings of 98.
Adele was born Adela Rosa Zerilli on May 4, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of three sisters. As well as living in Freehold, New Jersey, Adele also lived in Belmont, California before moving back to New Jersey.
Adele was a graduate of Freehold High School and was awarded “best dancer in the class”.
Many Springsteen fans will remember some charming and famous dances with her son at several of his concerts.
After graduating, she was employed as a legal secretary for 25 years at Lawyers Title in Freehold, New Jersey, and 25 years at Bohannon Development in San Mateo, California.
On February 22, 1948, Adele married Douglas Springsteen at the St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold and Bruce was born the next year. And the rest of course is history!
I was privileged and honoured to be at one of the amazing events where Bruce danced with his Mum.
