My Pick of Live Springsteen Cover Songs
As a few of you may know by now, I am a devoted Springsteen fan who has seen him a fair number of times in concert. I have been getting withdrawal symptoms for quite a while now due to last seeing him in 2016. There have been numerous rumours circulating that The E Street Band might be announcing a tour starting later this year. I am trying not to get too excited. I am approaching 60 so I need to look after my heart!
I have written about Springsteen’s lyrics, his songs and my dream Boss set list, but this article is dedicated to my favourite cover songs he has performed live.
I going to start by stating that if I ever put “Twist and Shout” on this list, my wife would demand an immediate divorce! This is a very popular concert encore song that he has performed many times. I have seen him do it on a number of occasions including once with Paul McCartney. My wife’s disdain for this song cannot be more emphasised. She really hates it. I tried explaining to her that it is one song he learned to play when he was just starting in the music business. This is probably why he likes playing it. Most fans love it. My wife argues that Springsteen has such a vast amount of songs in his catalogue so why can’t he play any of those? She does make a good point here. I am not that fussed with the song either and would much rather hear one of his own. If it was a choice…
