Losing a Pet is Never Easy but Sadly goes with the Territory
This One Hit Hard
This article is dedicated to my wife Tracey and our beloved cats.
With all the human suffering going on in this world whether it be due to wars or illnesses, especially in children it can sometimes feel a bit silly or trivial to grieve for a pet that has passed away.
It is probably harder for non-pet lovers to understand the sadness that it brings. Yet when they have been part of the household for so long it can be quite distressful.
We never had children, which I have regretted for so long now and will punish myself inwardly for the rest of my life. Therefore, all our pets have been our family, especially for my wife, who has given them so much care and love and provided them with the best life they could ever have.
We lost our beloved Boo Boo a week ago after making the horrible decision to put him to sleep on the advice of our vet who tried to operate but found a mass that would grow back in weeks.
Due to the operation, he was already asleep, so he didn’t suffer in his final hours. As we stood there in tears I kept thinking back to one of my favourite Sci-Fi films Starman where alien Jeff Bridges brings a dead stag back to life and sets him free. If we only had that power!
