Great article and fascinating debate over acts of god and mitigation. It’s easy to think that deaths could have been prevented in Syria and Turkey had the infrastructure been stronger but do they have the money and resources to do that and if they did would the normal people be able to afford it. Here in the UK we had the Grenfell Tower fire a few years ago where it was more clear cut that regulations and safety were cut to save money.
