Counting Down My Top Ten Al Pacino Films

I recently watched a documentary where the acting legend discusses his career, certain performances, and other famous film roles that he turned down. I won’t spoil that piece for anyone who has not seen the documentary, as it is a fascinating watch.

As Al Pacino has been my favourite actor for most of my adult life it got me thinking as to what would be in my top ten Al Pacino movies.

Al Pacino has been Oscar-nominated nine times (five Best Actor and four Best Supporting Actor) but has only won the prestigious award once. He also had early success on the stage winning two Tony awards. He became a Dad again at the age of 83!

I have given some thought to my list and although they may not all be his best films these are the performances I have enjoyed the most from the living icon.

I have rated them ten to one leaving the best to last.

10. Insomnia

Number ten was the toughest of the lot for me as I contemplated two films. My contentious issue should become clearer at the end of the article.

Consequently, I am going with Insomnia directed by Christopher Nolan where Al Pacino plays a weary old-school detective who is sent to Alaska with his partner…
