12 Springsteen lyrics that mean the most to me!
So, I wrote a story a few years ago about Springsteen and my life, based on all his concerts I have seen over the years.
It is still an ongoing project in the hope that I will see a few more Springsteen concerts over the next few years. A pandemic has not helped!
The story contains a number of lyrics to his songs that have had an impact on me. I did have a couple of publishers interested but was naïve to the fact that printing lyrics in a book can be legally challenging! They suggested I take the lyrics out to simplify things. However, I believe the lyrics are a fundamental part of the story and I was not prepared to compromise. Whether it was worthy enough of being put in a book I will never know, but the lyrics are what makes it so important to me, so it will remain unpublished.
Songwriters especially icons such as Springsteen and Dylan are our modern-day poets, and their words can mean so much to us as we progress through our lives, learning all the drawbacks and mistakes. We sometimes interpret these lyrics differently to what the author intends but I really don’t think that matters. It is how important and personal they relate to us and our personal journey through life. I do find people’s different opinions on the meaning of lyrics fascinating.
