10 Things I Have Learned on Medium

I have been writing on Medium for several years. However, until recently my prose has been very sporadic. I am now writing much more regularly, spurred on by the many magnificent articles there are on the platform. It is amazing how much knowledge you can gain from people’s writing and I am learning so much. There are so many great writers out there that are inspiring me to write more.

Here are the 10 things I have learned from Medium over the last few months.

  1. Clapping. I have always been mystified by the clapping system. I have never been sure how much to clap but I have got the hang of it now. I have just been grateful for people to read my articles let alone clap them. If I like an article I will always try and give it a maximum clap. For some of them, I have wanted to give more than the limit but that is the current constraint we live with.
  2. The same goes for highlighting and commenting on certain text. I have also sussed this now. Initially, I thought certain parts of my phrases had some sort of glitch with dashes of green covering the areas. You would have thought someone working in the IT industry would have been savvier!
  3. Proof Reading. They say never proofread your material yourself! No matter how long I spend proofreading my articles, I still look in horror and disgust when I spot an erroneous…
